Also known as Seirei no Moribito and Guardian of the Sacred Spirit

moribito_book1After finally getting around to reading, collating stuff from the novel + anime, and tweaking, here’s a little review of book 1, as promised. ^^

In this entry, I won’t be writing a detailed summary of the book since the story is pretty much the same as the anime adaptation (save for several anime-original episodes). I just included some of the story’s highlights and some of my notes/comments that I jotted down while reading the book. I also compared the book a bit with the anime adaptation by Production IG (yes, I re-watched the series while/after reading, too :3)…

So, um, if you haven’t read the book or seen the series: **SPOILERS ALERT**

moribito_books_02

Um, nothing special… Just the usual occasional (giddy) random babble/filler post from me. I finally got my Seirei no Moribito books!!! My good friend since high school came back home to Manila (from Michigan) for a vacation this month. Along with her, she brought the first Moribito book that I requested, even surprising me with the second book in the series! (thank you!!!) I didn’t even realize book 2 had been published already. ^^;

Final impression of this series noted in the end. =)

Episode 26: “Departure” (series finale)

Summary: A messenger informs the emperor of Chagum’s success. Chagum and company travel back to the palace. On one of their rest stopos, they have a little party to celebrate. As Chagum leaves Balsa’s side, we see Shuga and a couple of assasins hiding among the trees behind. They ask for Shuga’s orders. Even though it may be against his will, it seems that he was ordered by the emperor to dispose of Balsa after the ordeal.

Episode 25: “Celebration”

Summary: Chagum continues on his way to Sahnan, the place of celebration, which appears to be a place where Sagu and Nayug overlaps. With Tanda managing to defeat one of the La Lunga, Balsa and company accepts the sig salua blossoms and consume the nectar so that they’d be able to fight against the La Lunga too and protect Chagum. Torogai-shi and Shuga are also on their way.

Here I am, entering the new year with some lame updates… (^_^’).

As much as I love watching Bamboo Blade, I will no longer be able to continue doing episode summaries for it due to work taking most of my time. To satisfy your need of screencaps and summaries for this, I suggest you hop over to Totali’s blog for that. =)

I will continue with summaries of Shion no Ou and will most probably do that in batches of 2 or 3 episodes per post (ep. 4&5, 6&7, etc.) to make it a bit easier since I’ve been so backlogged with writing it. It will take a bit of time, though (and I think the series would be over by then, heh… I will never let myself be backlogged again!)

Im still short on the last 2 episode summaries of Seirei no Moribito but it’s certain that I will get to that one way or another (I started blogging it more than halfway through, but I still want to finish it off like how I did with Darker than Black and Lovely Complex). While I’m still watching it now and then, I will be officially dropping Hayate no Gotoku! from my blog list since I won”t manage to catch up writing that now that it’s all the way to episode 37 (I stopped at 25… @_@).

With regard to the Winter 2007/2008 line-up, I highly doubt that I’ll be picking up any new series to do episode summaries of since, again, work is taking most of my time (and life! >_<). However, I will still be sticking to writing anime overviews, so expect some new material soon. 🙂 If ever there’s a series that I can’t resist to write summaries of, it would most probably be a short series (12 to 13 episodes) or maybe one full course (24 to 26 episodes), but again, I highly doubt that at the time of writing this babble. On another note, first impressions of the Winter 2007/2008 series will once again be written in batches, like I did last Fall 2007.

Okies… that would be it for the update babbles for now. Eh, that was quite long, wasn’t it? ;P

As the end of 2007 nears, I figured it would be fitting to post something to look back on the anime scene and mention a few of the series that I found rather noteworthy to share. I prefer using the term “notables” than “best of” since I don’t think I’ve seen enough anime to actually say which is best.

Please note that this is quite a subjective list as this was solely based on my picks among the series I have seen that aired from January to December of this year that I feel are notable.

* List order is chronological based on the season when it started airing (from Winter 2006/2007 to Fall 2007)

Episode 24:  “Last Hope”

Summary:  Continuing from the last episode, Chagum, who is intermittently being taken over by the water spirit’s egg’s power, has run off towards the forest as the La Lunga gives chase. Balsa, Tanda and the elite warriors go after Chagum. Shuga and the imperial army as well as Torogai-shi stay put in Blue Lake since they believe Chagum will return there at dawn if it is indeed the place of celebration.

Episode 23: “In Pursuit of Sig Salua”

Summary: Spring has arrived. In the palace, Gakai apologizes to Shuga for not being able to decipher all of the stone tablets before their departure. Shuga notes that it’s alright and finding a way to protect Chagum from the La Lunga is achievement enough. Gakai informs him that they will send a messenger on horseback if hey find out anything else. Shuga and the rest of the imperial cavalry leave the palace to go to the place of celebration, as Shuga promised Torogai-shi and company back in episode 20.
