Several of the fansub groups have already released their share of Fall 2007 picks and I’ve been able to watch a few of them. Please note that I’ll almost always be a couple of episodes later than most because I wait for the English subs. If you’re eager to read the summaries, kindly check out my blogroll for a few links out to the other anime blogs I frequent (they watch the raws and they’re amazingly quick on doing the episode recaps!).
Anyway, getting back on track, here’s a quick first impression on some of the Fall 2007 anime series that I’ve seen. I’ve divided it up in batches. Whether I’ll watch/blog it or not is included after each impression. ^_^ I’d probably pick up about 1-3 new Fall series (plus I’ll be continuing on with summaries of Hayate no Gotoku! from the spring lineup). This is batch 1.
In this batch: (1) You’re Under Arrest! Full Throttle, (2) Clannad, (3) Goshūshō-sama Ninomiya-kun, (4) Night Wizard The Animation. Let’s get to it, shall we?
The 3rd installment of the You Are Under Arrest! series. The animation is as close as it gets to how it was before but with a few modifications. The colors are more crisp, the clothes are more updated and the animation have gotten better. Come to think of it, I haven’t really noticed before what color the 2 lead females’ eyes had but for this one, it’s quite conspicuous that Miyuki has violet eyes while Natsumi has green. It picks up where it left off from season 2. Miyuki arrives back in Japan after a stint in the LAPD exchange program while Natsumi is returning to the Bokuto Station after a participating in a military training camp. Natsumi makes a quick narrative of what happened to who, how everyone’s doing, etc., filling in Miyuki (and us). As usual, after a bit of introduction on the case at hand, there comes action and then a chase, hilarity, drama, more action, bad guys caught, cuffed and booked. My only complaint is the ED sequence (O_o) … if you’re not familiar with the series, you’d get the wrong impression that it might be some sort of yuri. ~Lol. Rest assured, it’s so not yuri.
- Watch it? – Yep! I’ve enjoyed watching this series since it’s 1st season back then. Heck, I even saw the live-action. 😉
Blog it? – Probably, yes. But I still can’t say for sure since I’m eyeing Minami-Ke (I’m eagerly waiting for the subs to be released) as my staple to blog.
The beginning totally got my attention. I loved the style, with the animation going from hues to color, along with the camera panning and switching. The dialogue at this point also makes you wonder what they’re talking about. I like the song. As the OP plays, images of the characters are shown along with their names. Heh, I like the idea of this since I’d at least remember who is who. I was a bit surprised with the humor. From reading the synopsis, I thought it was gonna be all dramatic and such. I was quite surprised to find out that it also had a comedy element to it. I’m a sucker for comedies, and basically, when watching animes my top priority is to have fun and enjoy it. I love the part with Okazaki and Sunohara with Sunohora mumbling and complaining about the rugby club while Okazaki repeats what he says but in a louder voice, adding that when the time comes when Sunohora will take his revenge on the rugby club Okazaki will be on the club’s side. It just cracked me up. A bunch of characters are introduced in school but I’ll elaborate on that on another entry sometime this week since I’ll be writing an overview for this one. I haven’t seen the movie, so I don’t have much of an idea on how the story will go besides the synopsis. I just hope it’s not a sad ending or anything… I wouldn’t want to have to put out my stock of Kleenex to dry my tears.
- Watch it? – Yep.
Blog it? – Most probably not since there’s already a lot of the more prominent anime blogs who will be covering this one. I’ll be leaving it in their care. I’ll just be writing a series overview of this one after a couple of episodes or so.
You know what? It’s not that bad. It’s not exactly pointless, it just didn’t have much depth in the story, but I don’t think it was intended to have depth in story in the first place so it’s fine. If you like anime to watch just for fun then maybe you could give this one a peek. You won’t have to think too much at all. Just take it as it comes. It’s not something that I’d eagerly follow every week but I won’t mind watching it when I have some time to spare and just want some light entertainment to pass the time. =)
- Watch it? – I won’t be following weekly but might watch it intermittently or later on, just for the heck of it. ^_^
Blog it? – Nope. However, Totali will be following this one, so if you decide to watch this one and are craving for some episode recap, check out his blog for the summaries.
As per it’s wiki entry, it’s an anime adaptation of the urban sorcery action role-playing game released in Japan in 2002. This wasn’t even in my watch list at all since I wasn’t able to find much info about it initially. I must say, the animation wasn’t spectacular or anything but it turned out to be better than I thought it would be. There’s a bit of vocabulary on this one including, magic, wizards, emulators, returner and tamer, to name a few. So far, after the 1st episode, it’s got enough action and a pretty decent storyline to keep me interested in watching it.
- Watch it? – So far, yep.
Blog it? – Maybe. I’ll watch a few more episodes to see if it will keep me interested before I can be sure. In the meantime, I’ll be writing a series overview of this one after a couple of episodes or so.
