And the goodie from Japan is… my new Toshokan Sensou cospa shirt! (Big thanks to usagijen and her officemate!) It’s the most expensive t-shirt that I ever bought, thus far (about 3300 yen all in all @_@) and the first imported item I bought from Japan. I got the shirt’s small size though it’s still too big for me, but I will do my best to figure out a way to wear this somewhere, somehow. xD

Just got back from WordCamp Philippines 2008. For this event, I met up once again with usagijen, and we met up with another fellow anime blogger, Zeroblade. We thought Mike was supposed to be there too, but he seemed to be MIA. The conference was a pretty cool experience. Matt Mullenweg was also there among the speakers. The talks were informative and the speakers were engaging. Aside from the bar-coded camper’s badge, we got this tote bag as a freebie, along with a mug and a WordPress logo sticker. We had a free lunch too (yay!). In fact I’m still too full from the Chinese lauriat we had for lunch (thanks ChowKing) that I’m pretty sure I won’t be eating any dinner today. ;P
One of the speakers, Mr. Fernandez, mentioned that “… deep inside, we all want to know how much our efforts are worth.” I do agree with this. Although I’m not obsessed about stats and page views, I’d be lying if I said I don’t check those. It does give me some warm fuzzy feeling when I see that someone actually reads my posts because I feel that the effort I exerted in sharing some of my thoughts was somehow interesting enough for someone else to take the time to read.
This is one of the images in the slides of Mr. Apao caught my attention since this comic made me exclaim “OMG, that is so me!” ~LOL. He talked about organizing and optimizing one’s blog.
The other talk that I attended was about blogging and journalism, delivered by Mr. Arao. He mentioned that we should take seriously what we write and not just as a passing fancy. Heh, I don’t really take my blogging seriously as in that seriously, I mean I like doing it but I don’t really write it as if my life depended on it. I like sharing my thoughts and I very much appreciate the readers and the feedback I get from the them. Blogging is more of a hobby to me than anything. I watch and blog anime mainly because it’s entertaining and fun! I think that if I took it any more seriously it would drain out the fun part for me. I guess we all blog for different reasons, no?
Mr. Mullenweg talked about the future of WordPress too and gave us a little preview of version 2.7. They improved some of the features and added a few in. It looks promising.
Even though I didn’t win anything in the raffle, it was still a very nice event. I had fun. Kudos to the sponsors and organizers who made WordCamp possible! You guys rock! ^_^
I totally had to do something else (cheer for the Ateneo v. LaSalle game) so I really couldn’t go … alongside other things.
i am the only toshosensou fan without any toshosensou stuff now 😥 – oh the hazards of making a start-up business! can’t splurge on any luxuries. i wish i was at the wordcamp but i was still in blogspot when wordcamp started. oh well… there’s till next year, right???
@ biankita: The shirt is quite big for me, my brother is asking if he can have it. Heh. I’d love to be a client/customer on your start-up biz… is it pastry-related? I’m not sure, but hopefully there’d be another WordCamp next year. ^^
Looks like they gave out WordPress shirts in the raffle later that afternoon D: Oh well… hope I can get my hands on that shirt!! XD
It was real fun, and I also hope there’s going to be another one next year!
@ usagijen: I still doubt I’d have won the shirt (or anything else) in the raffle, I’m unlucky with stuff like that.
It was more fun because it was with you guys, I would’ve stayed silent in a corner if I were by myself. ^^;;

The WordCamp looks interesting but too bad I’m from the UAAP Cheerdance competition that time… Anyway, October’s cosplay event will be an “otaku-mode” venue which I’ll try to go this year ^_^
@ kanzeon: I’m planning to check out the cosplay event this October too. I’ve never been to one, so it’d be a first for me. Maybe I’d bump into you there.^^
@hazy: It would also be a first for me too ^_^ Will you cosplay?

I missed joining Wordcamp 2008 and 2009 since I was too close to working hours. It is interesting to see if the form it has taken notes on the details of the conference WordPress users.
There are plenty of details to keep in mind that we chose to articles of information. We assure you of responsibility for the quality and accuracy of our jobs or else end up like all bloggers who use blogs as a platform to win.
I’m not saying you should avoid revenue opportunities, leading to what I’m saying, as a blogger, be sure to not compromise our credibility.
Usagijen Great post! Keep it up.
This is a interesting and awesome read. Your blog is published in a manner it is so easy to read and understand. I’m a fan of your web site. Appreciate your giving this info.
