When: 10/2008
Season 2 of ef – a tale of memories.
I think it would pick up from where the first series left off. Based on the visual novel‘s plot, this series’ trailer, and season 1 in general, I assume it will deal with Shuicihi Kuze and Hayama Mizuki’s story. Maybe we’d get to see a bit of the characters from season 1 as well since this story is interconnected with that. Certainly, Yu and Yuuko will be present, and hopefully we’d get to learn more about them this time around.

Its discovery brings great chaos: using this newest Seventh Fonon allows one to read the future. One such Seventh Fonist, Yulia Jue, puts in place a future for the world for thousands of years to come, with the promise of unlimited prosperity at its end. This prophecy of the future’s set path becomes known as the “Score” and is documented on “Fonstones” scattered throughout the world. The nations of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear and Malkuth have fought over the fragments of these tablets for generations, each uncovering them and hoping to discover the future before the other. Meanwhile, a holy order emerges dedicated to the reading of the Score and the keeping of the peace. This “Order of Lorelei” is headed by a Fon Master and maintains both religious/political and military branches. Finally, the Score and its promise of prosperity lead to a dangerous complacency within the general population of Auldrant; the slaughter of an entire people living on the island of Hod and the destruction of that landmass are countenanced because it was predicted in the Score. ————————————————-
- Several of the upcoming series sounds promising. I don’t have a definite watchlist as of yet (except for 2 of the series) but in the meantime, based purely on the synopses and the looks of it, the titles which sound interesting to me are:
Will definitely watch…
- Nodame Cantabile Paris Hen – Loved season 1, so it’s a no-brainer that I’d be watching this one!^^
- Ef – a tale of melodies – I liked season 1, plus this will complete the overall story, so I’ll be watching it.
Will probably check out…
- Yozakura Quartet -sounds interesting. It’s basically the “quartet” part that caught my attention, which made me think of music. Will the story involve music, aside from the OP, ED and BGM? I wonder.
- Skip Beat! – Sounds interesting. It also reminds me of a movie or maybe a novel, though I can’t quite put my finger on which title exactly…
- Kuro Shitsuji – Sounds somewhat interesting. Although, it strongly reminds me of Hayate no Gotoku! with the butler theme.
- Mouryou no Hako – It sounds a tad morbid, but sounds interesting anyway. It’s based on a mystery novel and I’m a sucker for mystery stuff, so I’ll check it out.
- Vampire Knight Guilty – Because I like Zero. Oh, and because I saw season 1, so I feel kinda obliged to watch this too (I’m reading the manga so I’m way spoiled already).
- Clannad After Story – If you’re gonna watch this, stock up on your Kleenex. Me? I’ve been spoiled about this story already way back in season 1 because of my spying curiosity. I’ll just marathon it later, if and only if the anime ending is the alternate ending in the game. Otherwise, I’ll just leave it to my imagination.
- Ga-Rei-Zero – The supernatural theme and basic plot somehow reminds me of Ghost Hunt (which I liked a lot *still prays for a season 2 or a resolution of the light novel series*). It also reminds me of Zombie Loan too, even Ghostbusters. xD
- Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae – I saw seasons 1 and 2 mainly because my brother watches it. So I’d probably watch this on and off too because, well, my brother will be watching it.
As usual, batch lists of my first impressions will follow when the subs are released. ^_^
~ Which titles made your watchlist for this season?
————————————————–
As always, thanks to Fansub Wiki where I got the Fall 2008 series list. 🙂
————————————————–
EDIT: (10/19/08.)
You might also want to check out:
- Fall 2008 First Impressions – Batch 1
- Fall 2008 First Impressions – Batch 2
- Fall 2008 First Impressions – Batch 3
Yay! I also like Zero ^_^
…and we almost have the same watch list! Well, except that I’ll watch Tora Dora. It is based from a great manga. Chaos;Head is also on my watch list 🙂
@ kanzeon: I liked Zero enough that I even placed him on my blog header! xD
Thanks for the note on Toradora. I watch way more anime than I ever read manga. It sounds quite interesting, it kinda reminds me of Lovely Complex based on it’s plot. If it’s as good as LC was, I may watch it too. ^^
How’s going, hazy ? Let see………….I’ll probably follow up with most of the sequel like Gundam 00 season 2, Nodeme Cantibile Paris chapter, Clannad ~after story, Vampire Knight 2, Lucky Star OVA. But the most anticipate for me is ef ~ tale of melodies. Even though, there are some minor thing that I don’t like about ef ~ tale of memories but I still think it’s really great anime and I’m looking for this sequel.
Other than that, I may check out Tora Dora (even though I thought the manga was kinda lame), Kyo no Go no ni 2, Yozakura Shijuusou and Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka. Well, I may change my mind but that’s what I have in my mind. Beside I think I probably will drop some since I’ll be busy with my project and stuff.
Hmm……most of the anime that you will check out are different from mine, hazy. Maybe after you check those series out. You can tell me how are good or bad or they and I’ll do the same when the Fall season come. Sound good ?
@ kenshin514: Heya! I’m eagerly anticipating to watch more of the funny antics of Nodame and Chiaki-sama. Like you, my list is still bound to change too, so we’ll just see when the episodes air. Yep, sounds good to me. I’ll be writing my first impressions in batches when the subs are out, we can compare notes then.^^
Funnily enough, I first stumbled across your site when I was googling for upcomming anime. ^^
Nothing really jumping out at me, but I may check out:-
* Casshern Sins (cyborgs!)
* Michiko to Hatchin (sexy diva!)
* Tales of the Abyss (sounds interesting!)
* Tytania (war/rebels & sci-fi stuff!)
@ bebop: Haha, here’s another season to clutter your HDD with. 😉
Definitely Nodame and Skip Beat.
Probably Toradora!, Hakushaku to Yousei, Jigoku and Junjou (if I haven’t had enough of BL after a couple of episodes)
Maybe ef if I like what I finish with S1
P.S. Please let me know when they show the Shiki bit. That’s all I plan to watch of VK2 after hating S1 so much after 5 episodes. ^^
@ biankita: Copy that. I’ll report to you which episode Shiki’s arc airs. *salutes* ^^
[…] So no more. Pass. But I am willing to watching the Shiki episodes only. I’m counting on hazy_undercover for the heads-up ^^ No more whiny emo dudes for me […]
I’m totally watching garei-zero- and mouryou no hako
And I’m so glad that you are too! No one else I know is following them lol
@ blissmo: Cool! I’m kinda excited to see Mouryo no Hako. I’m not sure what to expect about it, but I hope it doesn’t disappoint us! xD
@hazy: Long legs—-it can’t get any worse than that
@ blissmo: Haha, yeah. CLAMP is behind the character design after all.^^
@hazy: But I’ve never really liked any of CLAMP’s anime. I mean, ew, Tsubasa Chronicles, although Cardcaptors was okay. I hope they don’t ruin this series by putting in another Li *cough*Suzaku*cough* or Sakura-look-alike-and-act-alike
@ blissmo: Haha. I’ve never watched TRC and CCS, they were too cute (and confusing) for my liking. The only CLAMP stuff I liked were Rayearth and xxxHolic. I guess we’ll see how Muryou is when it airs. I think it’s a hit-or-miss kind of series.
@hazy: I don’t know anyone that hasn’t seen CLAMP’s CCS, except … you, of course. I tried watching xxxHolic but then it just got boring because I saw TRC before that and was reminded of the same characters, so I told myself to screw CLAMP since they always copy … themselves. They need to come up with better ideas.
@ blissmo: I love reading the xxxHolic manga, but the TRC crossovers in it make my head spin because I don’t read TRC (my friend does so we just trade info) and I don’t plan to. I don’t think my poor brain can take anymore confusion. I think they have too much ideas, and the connections they try to make between the two are killing me. =_=
@hazy: I actually don’t blame them for making their characters extremely long because apparently they’re short … and I’m pretty short myself too lols. CLAMP has really nice pictures though, and was interested in xxxHolic for a while, until I just got tired of it. I might find the manga better though 😀
…if I ever get to read it lol
@ blissmo: If you ever decide to read it, I think it’s best if you wait until they’re finished with xxxHolic. That is, if you’re like me who gets a bit impatient with the story since it’s only released twice (or once) a month. xD
@hazy: Have you tried reading Deadman Wonderland? The suspense is even worse
@ blissmo: I don’t read much manga. I’ve heard about DW, but only read its synopsis in wiki. Is it good?
@hazy: You know, it’s only like THE BEST I’ve ever read! That, and DN Angel
@ blissmo: Ah, I see. I shall check it out one of these days then. Thanks! ^^
Too many good animes.
@ Kairu Ishimaru: I think so too, but then I seem to be dropping a few after a couple or so episodes. Too little time. Maybe I’ll just marathon some later on.
***** Skip Beat! is a good anime i just cant stop laughing every episode and it got a good story.
***** Chaos; Head is good only the story is hard to get in but at episode 3 you will know everythink about the story and anime. i think this one is the best starting anime of this season.

**** Tales of the Abyss
good story much action.
***** Rosario to Vampire CAPU2
hahaha this anime is so funny you definely need to watch it!

Well this is my few in the anime i watched in this season so far. the 5 and 4 stars are so good that every like it. well,.. i guess the 3 and 2 stars and well simple oke.
the othere animes are not all bad if you ask me only i dindt watch it yet because i dindt like the manga or just dont feel like it to watch so im not tell you that they are bad!
@ MrPr04Live: Glad to hear you’re enjoying this Fall season. I’m watching several, but I’m mostly liking the season 2 of Nodame. ^^
@ hazy: Nodame Cantabile Paris-hen?? humz…. Maby ill go watch it to i just started with Shikabane-hime Aka and Kyou no 5 no 2 but what is the story about if ill watch season 1?? ^^
@ MrPr04Live: Nodame Cantabile is a comedy, slice of life, romance kind of series with loads of classical music since it’s setting is a music school. Not sure if it fits your taste, but you might want to give it a shot. If you’re into J-dramas too, the Nodame Cantabile live action version = pure win (I love it more than the anime) ^_^
@ hazy; Oke, and how to i put a website picture ? lol !”
@ MrPr04Live: By website picture, do you mean the little images that appears with the comments? You can have one via [Gravatar]
