Another last-minute season preview from me (or is it?). Heh. So, here’s a rough list of anime that will be airing this Spring 2009. I might have missed a few others, but either way, here’s the information that I’ve been able to gather (listed in alphabetical order, by month). Some series will start airing in March, May or June, while most will be in April. As usual, batch lists of my first impressions will follow when the subs are released.
To the Spring 2009 anime preview list we go!

Copied this entry from the March section because its second episode scheduled in June. Will update again (or make a separate entry) once I get more concrete details. ^^
Edit #1: I heard this will be a 2-episode special. If it will be, I’m still not sure when the 2nd special episode will air. Although, according to its media info page in Wiki, the number of episodes is still unknown… Anyway, I’ll update this again as soon as I get more concrete details. ^^

- Other than two titles, I don’t have a definite watchlist as of yet but in the meantime, based purely on the synopses and the looks of it, the titles which sound interesting to me are:
Will definitely watch…
- La Corda D’Oro ~secondo passo~ – I was hoping for a second season, but this special episode will do too! I get to see Tsukimori, and the rest of the musically talented bishounens once again. ~Hooray!
- Lupin III vs. Detective Conan – another special episode. Will watch it only because I’m a fan of Detective Conan. I’m sure there won’t be a definitive ending, though — methinks Conan isn’t likely to actually arrest Lupin. Um, won’t they cross a timeline here or something? I’ve never watched Lupin III, so I’m not sure what that show’s time/setting was. But yeah, anything goes in the anime world and the DC-verse. xD
Will probably check out…
- Eden of the East – Production I.G + director of GitS and Moribito + character design by Umino Chika-sensei?! Those are definitely good enough reasons for me to check this series out! Plot sounds quite interesting too. PS: I was like, OMG, the characters in the pic totally reminds me of Morita and chibi Yamada from H&C! Then I read it was designed by Umino Chika (H&C forever, yeah!) ^^;
- Marie & Gali – Sounds interesting (yeah, I like science), plus it only takes 5 mins to watch. Character design isn’t too attractive though… but if anyone subs it, I’ll probably check it out.
- Hayate no Gotoku! (season 2) – Because I saw the first season and enjoyed most of it. I’ll be taking my time though, especially if it’s running for 50+ episodes again.
- K-ON! – Sounds interesting. Character design looks nice. I also like comedies. Might be fun to watch.
- Pandora Hearts – Sounds interesting.
- Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ – Sounds interesting. Animation looks okay too.
- Ristorante Paradiso – Sounds okay.
- Valkyria Chronicles – Sounds okay.
- Saki – Um, will I learn mahjong just by watching it? Might check it out just so I won’t feel too useless when my grandmothers come by and ask me (and my cousins) to play a friendly game of mahjong. xD
I haven’t gotten around to watching Fullmetal Alchemist or Chi’s Sweet Home‘s previous seasons yet (I don’t feel like marathoning its 50++ episodes at this time @_@), so I’m skipping those for now.
~ Which titles made your watchlist this season?

As usual, thanks to Fansub Wiki where I got the Spring 2009 series list. 🙂

[…] Bakugan Battle Brawlers Anime Preview […]
The only one that caught my eye after a quick skip is Shangri-La, but we’ll see. Definitely catching FMA and Lupin v. Conan, but other than that, not sure. I don’t have much time, so I don’t expect to be picking up more than two other series aside from FMA.
A little early, no? Haha.
Definitely looking forward to Eden of the East, and I’ll be watching Natsu no Arashi mostly because it is SHAFT.
I’ll probably watch one episode of DBZ Kai before forgetting about it, and checking out FMA maybe for nostalgia’s sake! I can’t believe they’re coming out with a HnG 2. So lonnnngg…..
Too early to say anything about the other new shows.
That’s a nice list 🙂
Thank you very much for mentioning Ristorante Paradiso! 🙂 Somehow it slipped from my radar, but it sounds like a series I might enjoy 😀
It seems that Winter Sonata is one of the series that is not on your list.
I’ve written relatively detailed previews for Eden of the East, Shangri-la, Konnichiwa Anne, Natsu no Arashi, Hanasakeru Seishounen, and Winters Sonata – I’ll check out all these anime and will blog some of them episodically.
Currently airing anime that I enjoy the most is Kemono no Sou-ja Erin 🙂
woow , alot this time cant wait !
@ Kiri: I’m quite curious how Lupin vs. Conan will turn out.
@ totali: Haha, I was a tad too eager to post the list because La Corda and Conan are airing this March.
On a boring day, HnG for the lolz! Most looking forward to see Eden of the East. My watchlist is definitely likely to change too once the season starts.
@ Kitsune: Glad to hear you found the list helpful. ^_^
I missed a few other series too. Thanks for the heads up! I didn’t include Winter Sonata though because my source (fansub wiki) listed it under Summer ’09 along with season 2 of Spice and Wolf.
@ mrpr04live: Hopefully, most of the series will end up being good ones.
Oh, I see. Thank you for mentioning about Winter Sonata 🙂
Actually, I am glad it will air in summer because this spring will have many interesting shows I would like to blog about 🙂
Thanks for the quick preview!
Let’s see, Hatsukoi Gentei and Ristorante Paradiso because i’m a sucker for anything that sounds like slice of life
Shangri’La sounds interesting, and the preview pic looks pretty good too
Would probably check out K-ON too
@ Kitsune: No prob. 🙂 So many interesting shows, so little time.
@ kalen: I like slice of life too, and comedies. I hope both Ristorante and K-ON will turn out to be good. ^_^
I’ve been reading thru Natsu no Arashi so it would be interesting to see the anime adaptation. Ristorante got some jdrama-like plot; definitely included in my list ^^
@ shinji: Ristorante does sound like it has potential. Is Natsu no Arashi a good read?
Uwah! What a great lineup. I’m definitely keeping a lookout on Fullmetal Alchemist (the second season is supposed to follow the manga more, which is 10x better than the anime. And that anime is 1000000x times better than the majority of animes out there. So this should be good), La Corda D’oro (pretty much the same reasons as you. I really wish there was a second season, but it will do. xD ), 07 Ghost (I glanced at the manga, it’s not half-bad), Hayate no Gotoku (same reason), Pandora Hearts (a pretty decent manga), Valkyria Chronicles (good art, sounds nice), Eden of the East (pretty art, sounds nice), and Hanasakeru Seishounen (It’s compensation for La Corda D’oro. Hopefully, the bishies will be awesome in this and the girl will be nice. I’m upset about La Corda, so this might make me feel better. xD ).
I tend to make a huge list and cross of animes/add on animes as I watch them more. These are my prime candidates at the moment, but it depends on subbing and story. I’ll also be watching Saki and a bunch more. The only two sure ones are La Corda D’oro and FMA Season II.
@ Lara: Eden of the East is definitely a must-see for me! Hopefully, the ones we’re looking forward to check out will not disappoint us come spring. ^^
Eden of East! *dances* \|^_^|/
@ nogizaka: Yeah! Just a couple of weeks to go. ^^
@Hazy added you to my blogroll btw, I really wanted to read some blogs XD ~
I will definitely watch La Corda D’ Oro, Lupin III vs. Detective Conan, Dragonball Kai and Full Metal Alchemist.I’ll try to watch Asura Cryin’ and Eden of East.
I’m not really into anime any more, but I’m soo looking forward to Eden of the East. I know, from shounen to shoujo … I’ve seemed to have changed heaps!!! I haven’t seen Honey and Clover, but I didn’t really like the pictures either; however when I saw the PV for this series, I just knew that I had to check it out too!
@ nogizaka: Sure. Thanks! I added you in my blogroll too.
@ Aya: Looking forward to those too, especially Corda and Eden. ^^
@ blissmo: Heya! Been a while. Good to see ya around! I’m really excited about Eden. Might even blog it when I find the time.
Preferable not to touch the previous FMA season.
