Episode 14: ” A Killer Crush on Maity!”
This episode starts off with a new opening theme called “Hey! Say!” by Hey! Say! 7 with a new set of opening sequence scenes from upcoming episodes.
Summary: Koizumi is playing a dating sim game. She is smitten over Cain-sama, the character in the game, and is still not over the fact that Otani can’t remember the supposed “kiss. ” She stays in her room most of the time playing the game. Her family is worried about her.
It’s the first day of another school year. Koizumi is still pissed off that Otani forgot the “kiss.” Nobu informs her they are all in the same class again. Otani appears and wonders why she’s been in a bad mood ever since the Umibozu concert. Koizumi goes on rambling about him forgetting the kiss and yells “give me back my first kiss!” Otani genuinely doesn’t remember anything about it, tries to call the emergency number 119 since he thinks she is hallucinating. He tells her not to confuse fantasy with reality. This pisses Koizumi even more.
While walking around the school, Nobu, Chiharu and Koizumi meet a cool new guy who grabs Koizumi’s heart. He reminds her of “Cain-sama” from her video game. Back in class, she is still going on about how great the new guy is, referring to him as “Cain-sama”. Otani thinks she’s hallucinating again. It turns out that the cool guy they met earlier is their new assistant homeroom and English teacher, Maitake-sensei or Maity for short. All the girls are charmed by him (except Nobu). Koizumi volunteers herself and Otani to be class reps. Nakano-sensei notes that they are the famous “Hanshin-Kyojin” in school. Maity comments that he thinks it’s a cute nickname. This makes Koizumi blush. Nobu later asks Koizumi if she really likes this Maity guy and if she’s now over Otani. Koizumi says that she still likes Otani but she also likes Maity since he is like an “oasis for her withered heart.” Koizumi thinks to herself that she still doesn’t see any hope for her to be with Otani. While walking home together, Otani asks Koizumi what she’s been angry about ever since the concert. She says it’s fine and that nothing happened. Otani then remembers that he bought her a souvenir from the concert, an Umibozu towel! This cheers Koizumi up.
The next day in class, Maity-sensei is teaching English. All the girls are impressed by him, while the guys are annoyed. Otani is caught sleeping in class. Maity wakes him up by whispering in his ear and then blowing in it. This wakes Otani up with a loud scream. Now every girl wants to sleep in class so Maity would whisper in their ear, even Koizumi. After class, Maity asks Koizumi to do the class roster for him and she cheerfully agrees. Otani skips this duty as their basketball coach is on leave. Koizumi complains to Nobu that it’s mean for Otani to skip out on her on their duty as class rep. She learns from Nobu that Otani is the basketball team captain now and is working real hard. Koizumi is quite surprised to hear this and decides to go easy on Otani. She goes back to the classroom to do the roster.
Back in the classroom, Koizumi is in a much better mood. Otani comes back from practice and she compliments him on his basketball skills. Koizumi mentions Maity and this gives Otani chills remembering the ear whispering thing he did earlier. He asks Koizumi if she really likes Maity. She says she does. Otani says that’s gross and tells her not to go for cold guys like that. Koizumi wonders if he says ‘don’t” could that mean he’s asking her not to stop liking him? She brushes off this thought and says he probably doesn’t think before he speaks and that it’s not what he meant.
Otani suddenly remembers something while they were in his room. He remembers that when Koizumi visited him, he got real close to her and was staring at her face… then says he noticed a piece of rice stuck in her hair and decided to take it off. This immediately pisses off Koizumi again, mistaking the “kiss” for a piece of rice. She becomes all emotional and tells him she was too worried about him being sick that she hurried eating so she could go to his house. She says she was trying her best to be good enough for him, then says he didn’t take the rice but her lips. She then suddenly grabs Otani and gives him a quick kiss on the lips. This surprises Otani, asking her what that was all about. Koizumi replies “I guess that was really just an accidental bump. Am I really no good? I’ve been trying my best even though you rejected me. I’ve had enough of this. I’m through loving you!” She then hurriedly runs out of the classroom. Otani follows her and looks out the door. She bumps into Maity as she runs down the hall and he notices that she is crying. Koizumi thinks nothing will change anyway between her and Otani and says “I give up.”

My Impression: New opening theme: “Hey! Say!” by Hey! Say! 7. There’s also a new opening sequence to boot with new clips from upcoming episodes. The new opening song is quite catchy, I especially like the intro part where they sing “Say! Hey, hey, hey hey, hey, hey…” although I still personally prefer the previous “Kimi + Boku = Love?” by Tegomass.
There’s also a new ending theme called “BON BON” by Hey! Say! 7 with a new ending sequence showing some Love*Com art. I seem to like this ending song a bit better than the previous one.
In this episode, we get to meet Koizumi’s family in the beginning, a glimpse of her mom, her brother and an older guy who’s either her dad or grandpa, (I’m not sure). Poor Koizumi still confused about Otani and feels reall angry that he can’t remember the supposed “kiss.” It appears Otani really doesn’t remember the kiss at all since he really fainted from his high fever. This makes it even worse for Koizumi since her first kiss resulted from fainting. ~Lol. This episode is a bit on the emotional side especially during the latter part, when Otani and Koizumi are in the classroom. Her patience finally snapped and gave Otani a kiss, then realizes he really did faint and can’t remember. She finally decides that she’s giving up on Otani and that she’s had enough.
I think the story is getting more interesting now that Maity sensei is here. I can’t wait for the next episode! It looks like it’s time for payback. Haha. I think it’d be fun to watch and see if Otani will get jealous over Koizumi having a huge crush on Maity! ^_^
Next episode: Koizumi focuses her energy on Maity-sensei instead. Maity’s sweet seduction!
[…] I’d totally play that, if for nothing else because her moments in the show are so hilarious. CAIN-SAMA! But there is actually a Love*Com adventure game for PS2 which came out last year. I can’t, […]
