Episode 24: ” There are No Common Troubles ” (Motesugite Komaru Kuro wa Shita Koto nai nā”)
Summary: Nagi is staring at a rental DVD saying she forgot to return it to Wataru. Hayate offers go to Wataru’s shop and return it. On his way over, Hayate encounters a chain of bad luck and Wataru’s shop turns out to be closed. On his way back, he ends up getting hit by a truck. Hayate finally arrives home and sees that Isumi and Sakuya is there visiting Nagi. Isumi then remembers that she was wearing a stole earlier but seems to have misplaced it. Hayate offers to go look for it. Isumi says she doesn’t mind losing it since it only cost 50,000,000 yen. Hayate is overwhelmed by the price and says he’s going to look for it right away. Isumi then comments that Hayate is very kind.
Hayate remembers that Isumi was resting at the guestroom earlier so that is where she might have left it. As he reaches the room, Tama enters before he does. Tama decides to sleep then sees the stole and thinks that it would make a good blanket. Hayate yells at Tama and tries to stop him but Wataru beats him to it as Wataru kicks Tama yelling that a pet has no right to rouch Isumi’s stuff. As he picks up Isumi’s stole, he thinks that even he doesn’t get many chances to touch Isumi’s stuff. He then blushes and takes a sniff of the stole. Hayate then interrupts him, surprising Wataru who is very much embarassed by what he was doing and asks Hayate if he saw it. Hayate confirms this but tells Wataru that he wouldn’t tell on him since butlers of the Sanzenin won’t do anything to embarrass their guests. Tama then interrupts them saying that the Sanzenin’s pet will do things to embarrass guests. Hayate then pulls Tama and tells him he thought he wasn’t going to speak in front of others since it destroys other people’s dreams. Tama responds that he doesn’t want to destroy dreams of girls but doesn’t mind destroying dreams of boys, adding that he will report Wataru’s actions to everyone. Wataru is very much worried about this and thinks that Isumi will hate him if she finds out. Hayate tells him not to worry and that he will take care of Tama. Hayate then asks why Wataru is here anyway. Wataru says it’s because Nagi returned the DVD that he gave her so he came to give it back. Hayate then goes to Tama’s room and tries to stop him from spreading the rumor about Wataru over the internet. Hayate asks Tama not to spread the rumor and manages to scare him off with some knife-throwing skills, so Tama agrees to behave.
Hayate then tells Wataru that it’s all okay. Wataru asks him if he can give Isumi her stole since he doesn’t now how to face her right now, then thanks Hayate for saving him today. Hayate cheerfully says that he’s glad to be of any aid and walks away. Wataru thinks to himself that he would like to become a man like Hayate someday. Hayate then gives the stole back to Isumi. Nagi notices that Isumi is blushing as she thanks Hayate. Isumi then says she’s going home.
Hayate sees Isumi off to her car. Isumi then notices that Hayate looks happy. Hayate says he is a bit depressed earlier because of his bad luck but he is happy now since someone said “thank you” to him. Isumi then notices a bad spirit vibe coming out of Hayate’s necklace (given to him by Nagi’s grandpa in episode 11) causing her to hug Hayate all of a sudden, and gives a light kiss on his chest aiming for the necklace, which then stops glowing. This act takes Hayate by surprise. Isumi covers by saying it’s her thank you since he found her stole and that she thinks things will be a bit better for Hayate now. As she is getting inside the care, Isumi blushingly tells Hayate that she really likes him. Apparently, all of this was witnessed by Wataru and Nagi.
The next day, Hayate thinks he must be easily liked by children. Meanwhile, Nagi is still thinking about Isumi and Hayate, telling Maria that it looked like they were hugging yesterday. Maria suggests that Nagi ask them about it if it’s bothering her that much. Nagi says that if it turns out that Isumi does like Hayate, but since Hayate loves Nagi then she will end up hurting Isumi. Maria adds that it may be a mistake. So Nagi decides to see Hayate and ask him about it. Nagi asks Hayate if he cares for Isumi. Hayate says he does, which surprises Nagi. Nagi, interpreting it the wrong way, then asks if Hayate seriously loves Isumi, telling him that she saw him take action yesterday. Hayate honestly says that he probably wouldn’t say that he loves Isumi. Nagi then asks if he is just playing with Isumi and is just doing it for fun. Hayate answers that rather than Isumi, it’s usually Sakuya that he has fun with but that it’s true that he’d like to have more fun with Isumi too. This surprises Nagi even more. Everything that Hayate said was taken by Nagi the wrong way. She then punches Hayate yelling that he is a jerk and that she has lost her faith in him. Seeing what happened, Maria asks Hayate if he’s alright. Hayate asks her what could be Nagi’s problem. He bashfully tells Maria that it seems to him that he tends to be liked by young children, so he might as well be a nursery teacher. Maria thinks that it appears there have been more misunderstandings and that she has to do something.
Nagi decides to run away from home and goes over to Wataru’s. Maria and Hayate finds Nagi’s note and goes off to search for her. Hayate tells Maria that he’ll check on Isumi’s house first. Meanwhile, at Wataru’s house, Nagi and Wataru think that there might have been a mistake and what they saw wasn’t how it looked, so they decided to go to Isumi’s house and hear her feelings out to resolve this issue. Hayate is talking to Isumi and asks her if she has any ideas where Nagi might have run away to. Before Isumi can answer this, a wind suddenly blows causing some dust to get in her eye. Hayate runs to her to help get rid of the dust.
Incidentally, Nagi and Wataru arrive at that moment and sees them together and thought that they were hugging. Nagi then angrily yells at Hayate telling him that he immediately came to meet Isumi the moment she ran away from home. Hayate confirms this. With Nagi and Wataru seeing things the wrong way, this surprises them both. Nagi is really hurt and pissed off about this then yells that she is selling Hayate to Isumi for 150,000,000 yen. Hayate is taken aback by this and asks Nagi why. Isumi then cheerfully responds, wondering if she should buy Hayate from Nagi for 150,000,000 yen. This takes them all by surprise.
Back at Wataru’s store, a customer is renting a certain DVD but Nagi says it’s boring and says that he lacks Gundam knowledge and forcibly tells the customer that he should watch those Gundam DVDs instead. Wataru then yells at her and tells her not to rent out his DVDs randomly. He then wonders why she’s still here. Nagi responds that she ran away from home and will stay here for a while. Wataru then tells her that the reason she ran away was because Hayate was there, but since he isn’t at the mansion now, she should go home already. Nagi, realizing that Hayate isn’t at home anymore, suddenly bursts out crying. Saki-san then sees Nagi crying and tells Wataru off for bullying Nagi, saying that if he’s like that even Isumi won’t like him. This gets to Wataru, who suddenly gets into a depressed mood.
After this main episode, it’s followed by a short piece about a kitten and little Wataru.

My Impression: Yet again, poor Hayate with all these misunderstandings piling up one after another! Maria’s expression when Hayate tells her that he tends to be liked by young children… Haha. As what the narrator says, Hayate’s mind is pure and he wouldn’t think of children in a strange way. Hayate seems to have been sold to Isumi for 150,000,000 yen. I wonder what happens next… I’m also wondering about that necklace and why nagi’s grandpa gave Hayate that necklace which seems to have some negative vibes in it. Hmm. That short piece was really cute, with little Wataru and TaruTaru the kitten. I initially thought the woman was Wataru’s mom, but according to Omni at Random Curiosity, it was Nagi’s mom. It’s nice to see something from the past, sort of a backstory feel to it. I don’t get to read the manga, so I don’t know much… I wonder if this short piece would have a role to play into the main Hayate no Gotoku story… Hmm.
The references I caught were Tsukihime, Ruruoni Kenshin, Gundam, Detective Conan.
Next episode: Hayate is now staying at Isumi’s since it appears that he’s been sold. Nagi will test the love and seems she will fake a kidnapping. Hayate will be fighting robots again.
