McDonald’s Philippines will be having Detective Conan as part of the Happy Meal until July 21! I have no idea what the toy item actually is, although it doesn’t look like a toy per se. Based on the little photo (see thumbnail) in the local McDonald’s site, it looks like a booklet thingy containing puzzles or something like that. It says there are 6 premiums to collect: (1) Mystery of Reflection, (2) Challenges from Conan, (3) Twisted Lens Mystery, (4) Secret in the Mirror, (5) Detective Boys’ Mission, and (6) Shadows of the Truth.
Anyway, I’d probably buy one or a couple of it, depending on what the DC “toy” is. I asked three branches in Makati about it today but they still have Kung Fu Panda figures as part of their Happy Meal. I’ll check again tomorrow after work, and then I’ll just edit this post when I manage to get my hands on it.
EDIT: (07/05/2008.) Okay, I finally managed to get my hands on it! I bought 2 spaghetti Happy Meals to go and chose the green one (Challenges from Conan) and the blue one (Shadows of the Truth). They were pretty cool. I took some photos with my cell phone’s camera, and here they are.
Like what usagijen mentioned in her comment in this post, one had a pen thingy that lights up when you’re on the right track in the maze card and when you get the right answer in the true or false question card. I haven’t figured out the dart card yet, it lights up with some of the characters but not in others — this is for the green one. The blue one was pretty sweet — you can project a character’s silhouette when you press a button.There are 6 silhouettes which you can choose by rotating the dial and then match it with the character guide sheet attached… and um, yeah, that’s about it. ^_^

I’m not sure if I’d buy the rest. It’s not exactly something display-worthy like a toy figure. It’s quite simple and kids would probably enjoy it.
I still say it’s too bad that it’s not a toy figure of the characters… I totally wouldn’t hesitate to buy the entire set if it were, even if the Happy Meal is ridiculously expensive for a small portion of a fastfood meal! ~LOL.
Wow, I would eat happy meals if there were such goodies included with them over at where I’m from.

oh and I think I know what toys these are! An officemate of mine who came from Japan gave some of these Detective Conan toys to her project-mates. Now I can get them too XD

@ usagijen: Kung Fu Panda is still available in every McDonald’s I went to in Makati today. Still no sign of DC. Orz. My brother said he saw DC at a branch in Pedro Gil, but I have no time to go there and investigate ~LOL. Go buy the Po toy while it’s still available! ^_^
Oooh, and what exactly are these toys? Was my “puzzles” guess correct? Hehe.
The one toy I can remember is this “maze” thingy which comes with a “magic pen light” of some sort, you use it to follow the trail in the maze, and it lights up when you’re in the right path, and doesn’t respond when you’re in the wrong one. Ok, I suck at explaining but I hope you were able to picture that lolz. But yeah, there’s basically puzzles of some sort XD

I saw in happymeal.com that transformers animated will be the featured happymeal and was suppposed be out last july 5; but i got flabbergasted when i saw it was DC instead!
I am a transformers toy collector, and was really so DISSAPOINTED at what Mcdonald’s marketing dept. or whoever the damn rascal who decides what would be the featured happymeal toy. Man, would everybody explain to me how or what they do in deciding what toy should be featured in a happymeal! I really wanna know why DC, why not transformers?
By the way, I am from the philippines. Tranformers animated was featured in Mcdonald’s stores in US, then why not here in the Philippines?
